The Problem
Conventional Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with highly flammable liquid electrolytes and low- capacity graphite anode cannot satisfy the increasing demand for high-energy, thermally-safe energy storage applications. Developing all-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs) with intrinsically nonflammable solid-state electrolytes and high-capacity lithium metal anode as well as hybrid solid-state batteries, is critical to addressing these challenges and meeting the need.
The Solution
Valgotech is developing hybrid solid-state battery technologies to create high energy density, high performance, flexible, and safer solid-state lithium-ion and lithium metal batteries, particularly hybrid solid-state lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries. These hybrid solid-state batteries can be used for applications like wearable electronic devices, satellites, and electric vehicles.
In conjunction with Valgotech’s proprietary solvent-free electrode and solid electrolyte manufacturing process, the time and cost for electrode and sold electrolyte manufacturing can be significantly reduced. We have demonstrated an electrode fabrication time reduction of over 14 times (93.75%) compared to the conventional wet-based (slurry) electrode fabrication process.
